Sedum rupestre 'Angelina'
{24 Pots - 3 1/2 in.}
(AKA Angelina stonecrop)
Sedum 'Angelina' is a terrific low evergreen groundcover for sunny areas with poor dry soil. It has brilliant semi-evergreen golden yellow linear fleshy needle-like foliage that forms a whorl around the stem and spreads to form a gorgeous low growing mat.
Clusters of yellow starry flowers appear on 6-8 inch stalks in early summer. As the temperatures turn cooler in the fall, the tips of the leaves often take on a reddish-bronze tinge which lasts all winter long.
Outstanding in rock gardens, as a ground cover, in front of the perennial border, and as edging. When planted in containers or on a wall, 'Angelina' develops a beautiful cascading habit.
Discovered in a private garden in Croatia, 'Angelina' is a great choice for beds and borders and is excellent as a cut flower. It is also a great butterfly and bee attractor and is disease resistant. As with most sedums, 'Angelina' prefers full sun in well-drained soil kept on the dry side.
It has a fast growth rate, will tolerate most soil types and is drought resistant and tolerant of salt. Mature height 4-6", spread 8-12", spacing 8-12".

General info - Sedum:
Sedum is one of the most popular perennials grown in American gardens because it is very easy to grow and hardy in most areas of the country. Perhaps the hardiest and lowest maintenance groundcover available, they thrive in a wide variety of situations with no care. Because of its thick, succulent leaves which can store water, sedums define drought tolerance - never wilting in the heat.
Sedums are spectacular foliage plants, with leaves of many different sizes, shapes and colors. Both foliage and blooms evolve in color during the season: leaves start out green and flush with lavender, russet, copper, etc., over time; the colors of the flowers tend to deepen or soften as they age. Vibrant flower clusters bloom longer and later than most groundcovers, often until frost.
Often used as accents, on roofs, in rock gardens, for edging and covering large areas. Taller varieties make excellent cut flowers, lasting weeks. Some varieties grow in a mat-like fashion, while others are best used as an upright ornamental specimen.
All sedums have thick, fleshy, succulent-like leaves and divide well. The seed heads of the taller varieties provide excellent winter interest and food for birds. Sedum's tolerance of cold makes it popular in northern zones. They are moderately salt tolerant, generally ignored by deer and rabbits, and attractive to butterflies. Sedums prefer well drained soil but will adapt to moist conditions. They spread moderately fast but not aggressively.
