'Big Blue' is an evergreen perennial with tall, thin grass-like foliage with tall spikes of lavender/violet/blue, hyacinth-like blooms in late summer to autumn, followed by dark blue (almost black) berries.

Outstanding as a container plant, lush border or pathway edging, in mass plantings, and under large trees - particularly lovely when in bloom. Grasslike in appearance and habit, but not a grass at all -- actually, it's a member of the lily family. Native to Vietnam, Taiwan, Japan, and China.

Grows best in medium shade in loose, light soil that is fertile and well drained, but also grows from full sun to dry, deep shade. A classic iron tough perennial for difficult sites. Spreads slowly by underground rhizomes. Deer resistant and drought tolerant, requires no care. Mature height 12"-15", spacing 12-24 inches.

Note: Big Blue is a runner - it does not stay in clump form like other varieties of Liriope muscari. It does not spread as quickly as varieties of Liriope spicata, but it does send out rhizomes and slowly spreads that way.

Note: these gallon plants are shipped without pots and with most of the soil shaken off.
