(AKA Gold Banded Liriope)Liriope muscari 'Gold Band' is an impressive Liriope variety with broad 3/4" wide arching foliage neatly edged with an unusual and distinctive gold band. Much more vivid than the typical variegated forms. Lilac-lavender flower spikes in late summer through autumn.
Gold Band looks great in the garden all season - the fantastic purple flowers are followed by very dark purple berries. While most Liriope are used as groundcovers or as edging, Gold Band makes an excellent specimen plant.
An easy to grow perennial, 'Gold Band' is often used it as a border in a variegated/texture planting scheme. It does best in full to partial shade in southern zones (it flowers better when it gets some sun). These plants tolerate heavy shade although they will take longer to spread and the flower stems will be more elongated compared with plants grown in more sunlight.
It grows best in any well drained soils (if drainage is adequate) and prefers a rich soil that has been properly amended with organic materials such as compost and manure.
