Liriope m. ’John Burch’
{50 Bare Root plants}
(AKA Border Grass, John Birch)A thick, clumping, grass-like member of the lily family with golden-variegated, arching, flattened leaves and a slight twist. Lavender spikes resembling grape-hyacinth like flowers provide added interest.
Perfect for banks, beds and at the base of trees where roots will not permit grass to grow - an almost indestructible plant for stubborn areas. Outstanding for erosion control.
John Burch tolerates drought, poor soil, heat, humidity, slopes and moist areas (performs best in well drained acidic soils and partly shaded sites with moist soils, and has less variegation when planted in shade). Deer tend to avoid it.

Makes a nicely textured low maintenance groundcover for sun or shade (prefers some shade in southern zones). To maintain the most attractive appearance, mow or cut back the tops in late winter or very early spring before new growth begins (to allow new growth to emerge unimpeded from the crowns). Evergreen in southern zones, moderate growth rate, drought tolerant. Mature height 12" - 15", spacing 8" - 12".
