Liriope m. ’Royal Purple’

(AKA Border Grass) 
Attractive evergreen 3/8" to 1/2" leaf blades. Deep purple flower spikes in late summer on upright stems in clusters which reach 6 to 8 inches wide. Flowers have six petals and are 1/2 inch wide.
It forms excellent outlines for formal gardens and is particularly suitable for southern gardens or in shady and dry places where little else can grow. Landscape uses are container plantings, rock gardens, woodland gardens, seashore plantings, borders, massing, and groundcover.
Tolerates a wide range of well-drained soils, drought and heat resistant, does well in sun or shade, and can grow in heavy shade. Moderate to fast growth rate is optimum in light shade and a fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Mature height 12-15", spacing 10-15".
