Phlox stolonifera 'Home Fires' is a tough hardy native evergreen woodland ground cover. It is a low-growing carpet-like spreader that forms a mat of rounded leaves with fragrant, deep pink flowers with dark eyes late Spring-early Summer. Drought tolerant. Spreads moderately fast by underground stolons to form dense colonies. Prefers moist soil with morning sun and afternoon shade. Prefers sandy soil, tolerates some clay. Foliage height 4-6", height in bloom 6"-12". Spacing 12-15".
Creeping phlox is a versatile, easy to grow groundcover which forms a dense carpet-like mat no taller than 6 inches. Recommended in small and large plantings. Tolerates drought and adapts to a wide range of soil conditions. Recommended for erosion control. Excellent in rock gardens, on slopes and in flower borders.
