Scabiosa columbaria ’Butterfly Blue’ has heavy lavender blue blooms summer through fall. This scabiosa produces scads of butterfly-attracting blooms all summer long and makes an excellent cut flower.
This is an exuberant plant that turns heads. ’Butterfly Blue’ is wonderfully prolific, and its lavender-blue flowers look good with almost any other flower color in the garden.
It grows best in well-drained soil in full sun. Deadhead flowers to promote continuous bloom. Moderate growth rate, deer tend to avoid. Height 12-18", spacing 9-12". Perennial Plant Association’s 2000 "Plant of the Year" award.
