Astilbe = tough enough to survive a snowy spring

The Astilbe plants arrived healthy, and some were already quite large! I planted them at the beginning of April. Then we had two hard frosts and snowfalls in mid-April (in Chicago), and some of the foliage wilted and turned brown. But all the plants survived! It’s now mid-June and there’s plenty of green to be seen. The White variety, which were the biggest when they arrived, are all blooming now. One Pink is blooming. I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of the Pink and Red show their colors!
