When I first planted these, I was suspect. Deer in my area eat anything green and alive. But they seem to make it through the winter quite well. They will survive better and grow better if you put a bird mess netting over the area in the first few years. I use them under trees, in shady as well as sunny areas. My neighbors wonder what the heck they are. Its a nice change from just planting pachysandra.
