Juniperus p. 'Nana' (commonly called Dwarf Japanese Juniper) is a low growing, creeping groundcover that grows like a spilling waterfall of deep blue-green foliage that turns slightly purplish in winter. Nana's star-like foliage is so unique in its shape, it is hard not to reach out and feel the slender shoots of green.

Nana spreads slowly to moderately fast (4-6 feet wide), and forms a large, dense mat perfect as a substitute for grass or turf in mass plantings, giving her excellent landscape value as a low groundcover.

Interesting Fact
Nana is often used for bonsai trees.

General information about Juniperus (Junipers):
Our Junipers are low growing, trailing prostrate groundcovers. They are commonly used for mass plantings as a turf substitute, on banks, in rock gardens and planter boxes, around tall shrubs or trees, or cascading over a wall.

They are excellent for erosion control on light to moderate slopes and are particularly effective in sandy locations along coasts or dunes. These junipers are tolerant of heat, drought, dry growing conditions, city air pollutants, and poor soil, even clay, as long as drainage is adequate (they prefer a dryish, sandy soil - make certain you have adequate drainage when you plant).

They are rarely eaten by deer, are tolerant of salt and black walnut trees, and love full sun.

I ordered 25 junipers. All the plants arrived in great condition! Planted 18 and I'm going to use the remaining plants for bonsai trees.

I'm writing this an an update to my original review. We placed two different orders for these plants as the original 100 was not enough to fill the hillside- total order was 125 plants. We planted the first 100 plants the end of May and the second 25 plants... Read full review >
