Parthenocissus quinquefolia is a
deciduous
woody vine that makes for a dense groundcover.
It
spreads
quickly
and indefinitely.
Five (6-inch by 2 1/2-inch) leaflets are reddish at first and then green at maturity. It has outstanding red fall color, and is one of the plants whose berries attract birds.
Recommended for erosion control and naturalizing. Virginia Creepers are salt tolerant, and they are a few of the groundcovers that can grow under walnut trees. - See all ivies
