Taxus media 'Stonehenge®' (Yew 'Stonehenge®') gives you strong, upright structure in a surprisingly small footprint. You get dense, deep green evergreen foliage that holds its color through winter, making it a reliable anchor for foundation plantings, narrow screens, and formal accents.
At maturity, expect a tall, columnar shrub about 108-120 inches high with a spread around 24-48 inches. Plant it where its vertical habit can shine: flanking an entry, lining a walkway, or creating a slim evergreen hedge without constant shearing.
Light is flexible. You can grow it in full sun, part shade, or even shade, which makes it useful on the north side of buildings or under open tree canopies. In hotter, sunnier spots, your best results come with consistent moisture and protection from drying winter winds.
Give it well-drained soil and avoid soggy conditions. Water deeply during establishment, then keep soil evenly moist during prolonged dry spells. Mulch to moderate soil temperatures and conserve moisture, keeping mulch a few inches away from the stems.
Prune lightly in late winter or early spring if you need to refine the outline; selective thinning works better than hard shearing. Like other yews, all parts are toxic if eaten, so place thoughtfully around pets and small children, and protect from deer browsing where deer pressure is high.
