For best performance, plant it where it will get full sun to part shade and where water drains quickly. Like most heathers, it strongly prefers acidic, well-drained soil with organic matter. If your soil is heavy clay or stays wet, consider amending a raised area or planting in a mound to keep roots aerated. Water regularly the first season to establish; once established, it tolerates some dryness, but it will look best with consistent moisture during extended dry spells.
