Plant it where it can receive full sun to part shade. In hotter or more exposed sites, a bit of afternoon shade can help keep the foliage looking its best. Provide average, medium moisture and well-drained soil; steady moisture during establishment is especially important so the root system can expand evenly and anchor the plant.

At maturity, expect a tall, columnar presence about 13-17 ft high. With a typical spread of roughly 5-9 ft, give it room to show off its natural silhouette and allow air to move through the foliage.
