Gaultheria procumbens 'Winter Fiesta' is a compact, evergreen wintergreen grown for four-season texture and colorful fruit. You get glossy, leathery leaves that release a classic wintergreen aroma when bruised, plus small urn-shaped flowers followed by showy berries that begin pale and can blush pink as temperatures cool.

Plant it where you can keep the soil consistently moist but well-drained and acidic, enriched with leaf mold or fine bark. A light layer of pine needles or shredded leaves helps hold moisture and keeps roots cool. In hot or dry weather, water deeply and avoid letting the planting area bake out, especially in containers.

This selection stays low (about 4-6 inches tall) and slowly spreads to form a patch. Use it as an edging for woodland paths, tucked into a rock garden, or as a living carpet beneath shrubs where you want evergreen cover and winter interest. Space plants about a foot apart for fill-in over time, and let it knit together naturally.

Best performance is in partial shade to full shade, including dappled light under trees. Little maintenance is required beyond occasional cleanup of winter-worn leaves and keeping mulch pulled back from the crowns. Berries can persist into the colder months and bring color when much of the garden is quiet.
