Lavandula × intermedia 'Exceptional' is a vigorous lavandin selected for strong growth, fragrance, and generous summer bloom. You will get a rounded, silvery-gray mound with long, showy spikes of lavender flowers that are excellent for fresh cutting and drying.

Give your plant full sun for best flowering and the strongest aroma. Plant in sharply well-drained soil and avoid heavy, wet sites, especially in winter. If your soil tends to hold water, use a raised bed, gravelly mix, or a slope to improve drainage. Water to establish, then let the soil dry between soakings.

At maturity, it typically reaches about 30-32 inches tall and becomes a substantial, airy clump as the flower stems rise above the foliage. Flowers and foliage are aromatic, and the blooms are a reliable magnet for pollinators in summer. Pair it with other sun-loving, drought-tolerant perennials for a bright, low-fuss planting.

Light pruning keeps plants tidy and encourages dense growth. Shear back spent flower stems after bloom, and trim lightly in spring once new growth appears. Avoid cutting into old, bare wood. In colder areas of its range, choose a sheltered spot and provide winter protection where temperatures drop hard and soils stay wet.
