Nepeta faassenii 'Cat's Meow' is a compact, mounded catmint that gives you a long season of sky-blue to blue-purple flowers and pleasantly aromatic foliage.
Give it a sunny spot for the strongest flowering and tightest habit, but it will also perform in part shade (especially where summers are hot). In bloom, it naturally makes a broad mound and is easy to tuck into borders, edging, and mass plantings. Expect mature size around 17-20 inches tall with an overall spread near 24-36 inches.
Plant in well-drained soil and water to establish; once rooted, it handles dry spells better than many perennials, though it looks best with occasional deep watering in extended drought. Avoid consistently wet or heavy soils, which can shorten its life. A light spring cleanup and a midseason shear after the first big flush can encourage fresh growth and more flowering later.
This is a low-maintenance choice for fragrance and color near patios and walkways. Deer tend to avoid the aromatic foliage, and the plant stays neat without constant fuss, making it a reliable companion for many sun-to-part-shade perennials.
