In the landscape, plan on a mature size of about 4-5 ft tall and roughly as wide. Use it as a foundation shrub, along a walkway where you can enjoy the perfume, or as a low screen or informal hedge. It also fits nicely into mixed shrub borders and cottage-style plantings.

Give your plant full sun to part shade; more sun generally means better bloom and stronger fragrance. Plant in average, well-drained soil and water regularly the first season to establish a strong root system. Once established, it tolerates short dry spells, but it will look and flower best with consistent moisture during active growth.

Prune right after flowering, since blooms form on old wood. Lightly shape as needed, or rejuvenate an older plant by removing some of the oldest stems at the base. With simple, timely pruning and decent drainage, this shrub is typically easy to grow and low-fuss year after year.
