Grow Strawberry 'Jewel' for classic June-bearing harvests with large, glossy, sweet red berries. In your garden, you'll get compact plants that stay about 4-6 inches tall and spread 12-16 inches, making them easy to tuck into raised beds, rows, or container-friendly garden spaces.

Plant in full sun for best fruiting. Provide evenly moist, well-drained soil enriched with compost, and keep a steady watering routine while plants establish and during flowering and fruit set. Avoid waterlogged spots and try to water at the soil level to help keep foliage dry.

Space plants so air can move around the crowns, and keep beds weeded so strawberries do not have to compete for water and nutrients. In spring, feed lightly and mulch to keep fruit clean and conserve moisture. As plants grow, you can pinch or redirect runners if you want larger berries and a neater patch, or allow some runners to root to fill in the row over time.

After harvest, tidy your planting by removing spent flower stalks and thinning crowded spots if needed. In colder regions, protect crowns with a light winter mulch once the ground begins to freeze, then pull it back in early spring so new growth can emerge cleanly.
