Add woodland texture and spring bloom with Tiarella cordifolia 'Running Tapestry'. You get deeply lobed, maple-like leaves marked with red veining, plus delicate wands of small white flowers in spring that hover above the foliage.

Plant it where you have part shade to shade, especially in woodland beds, along shaded paths, or under open-canopy trees. It spreads by runners to knit into a low, living carpet, making it ideal for massing as a groundcover and for softening the edges of beds and borders.

For best performance, give it moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil. Keep it evenly watered during establishment and through dry spells, and top-dress with leaf mold or compost to mimic forest conditions. It stays compact at about 8-10 inches tall (flower spikes can rise higher) and typically spreads 15-18 inches over time, creating a tidy, textured tapestry in the shade garden.
