Plant it in evenly moist, well-drained soil; once established it will handle occasional dry spells, and it is notably tolerant of poor soils as long as drainage is good. Mature size is about 12-24 inches tall with a 12-24 inch spread, making it a great front-to-mid border choice compared with the taller species form.

In USDA Zones 7-11 it is typically perennial, and it may reseed where conditions suit it. Leave a little room for natural seedlings if you want it to return in new spots, or deadhead to reduce self-sowing.
