Give it a spot in full sun for the strongest growth and heaviest bloom. Plant in average to moderately fertile, well-drained soil, and water regularly during establishment; once rooted, aim for even moisture without letting the site stay soggy. A light mulch helps keep roots cool and conserves moisture in summer heat.

After the main flush, you can clip off spent flower spikes to encourage more buds and a tidier look. In late fall, leave stems for winter interest if you like, or cut back once the plant goes dormant. In early spring, remove old foliage before new growth emerges.
