Weigela florida 'Snippet® Dark Pink' (Weigela 'Snippet® Dark Pink') is a compact, reblooming shrub that brings a blanket of rich, dark pink tubular flowers in spring, then returns with another show late summer into early fall. Its naturally tidy, rounded habit makes it an easy fit at the front of borders, along walkways, or in mixed foundation plantings where you want season-long color without a large footprint.
Plant it in full sun for the densest growth and the best flower display. Give it average, well-drained soil; it adapts to many soil types but performs poorly where the ground stays wet. Once established, it is a straightforward, low-fuss shrub that pairs well with perennials and other flowering shrubs.
At maturity, expect about 12-24 inches tall and roughly 12-24 inches wide. It is hardy in USDA Zones 4-8. Prune, if needed, right after the main spring bloom to keep the plant shaped and to avoid removing the next round of buds. During hot, dry stretches, water deeply to keep the plant looking fresh and to support repeat flowering. The nectar-rich blooms can also draw hummingbirds when in flower.
