Astilbe japonica 'Peach Blossom' (Astilbe 'Peach Blossom') is a clump-forming perennial grown for its elegant, ferny foliage and soft, peach-pink flower plumes that rise above the leaves in late spring to early summer.
Plant it where the soil stays consistently moist and rich with organic matter. Part shade to full shade is ideal, especially in warm-summer areas. In cooler climates you can give it more light, but avoid letting the root zone dry out, since drought and heat can cause leaf edges to brown and the plant to look tired.
For best performance, water deeply during dry spells and add a compost or leaf-mold mulch to help hold moisture and keep roots cool. Remove spent flower stalks if you prefer a tidier look, or leave them to dry for lingering texture. Divide crowded clumps every few years to refresh vigor and keep flowering strong.
Use it to brighten woodland gardens, shaded borders, and the front of mixed plantings. It pairs well with other shade lovers and is also a good choice near ponds or streams where the soil stays evenly moist.
