Delosperma cooperi 'Jewel of Desert Rosequartz' (Ice Plant 'Jewel of Desert Rosequartz') is a sun-loving, low-growing succulent groundcover that brings weeks of color to hot, dry spots. You get a tight, creeping mat of fleshy green leaves topped with bright, soft-pink, daisy-like flowers that open in sun and keep coming through the warm season.
At maturity it stays compact, about 4-6 inches tall, and spreads outward to form an easy edging or rock-garden carpet. Use it along borders, in gravel gardens, on walls, between stones (where there is soil), or spilling from containers for a neat, polished look without constant trimming.
Give it full sun for best flowering and dense growth. Plant it in very well-drained soil (sandy, gritty, or rocky is ideal). Water to establish, then let the soil dry between waterings; it is drought tolerant once rooted in. Avoid heavy clay and sites that stay wet in winter, as cold plus soggy soil can shorten its life.
In USDA zones 6-9, it can be a dependable perennial when drainage is excellent. After bloom, you can shear lightly to tidy the plant and encourage fresh growth. A top-dressing of gravel helps keep crowns dry and highlights the flowers.
