Plant it in sharply drained soil. Like many succulents, it dislikes standing water, especially in winter, so improve drainage with gravel or other coarse amendments if needed and avoid heavy, wet sites. Water to establish, then let the soil dry between waterings; once rooted, it handles dry periods much better than soggy conditions.
