Plant it where it will receive full sun to part shade. For best flowering and the tightest habit, give it plenty of sun, but it will still perform with some afternoon shade in hotter areas. Expect a mature size of about 18-22 inches tall and roughly 22-24 inches wide, so it fits easily toward the front or middle of a bed.

Give your plant average, well-drained soil, and avoid consistently soggy spots. Water regularly as it establishes, then keep moisture even during extended heat. A light layer of mulch helps keep roots cooler and reduces swings in soil moisture, but keep mulch from piling against the crown.

To extend the display, you can remove spent flower heads through the season. If you prefer, leave some heads later on for texture and seasonal interest. Cut stems back after hard frost or wait until late winter, then clean up before new growth starts. This perennial is hardy in USDA Zones 5-9.
