Plan for a mature size around 25-35 feet tall with a spread of roughly 12-15 feet, making it a strong small shade tree or a vertical accent near patios, along streams, or at the edge of a woodland. In the right conditions it flowers in late spring into summer, with additional blooms possible as the season continues.

For best results, give it consistently moist soil that is rich in organic matter and on the acidic side. It handles periodically wet ground better than many magnolias, so it can be a good fit for low spots or pond margins.
