Pinus strobus 'Blue Shag' is a dwarf, dense selection of eastern white pine that gives you a tidy, rounded mound of soft, blue-green needles and strong winter interest.

In typical garden conditions it matures around 24-48 inches tall and about as wide, making it easy to fit into foundations, rock gardens, and the front of shrub borders without constant pruning.

Plant it in full sun to part shade for the best color and growth. You will get the healthiest results in acidic, well-drained soil with even moisture, especially while it is getting established; avoid sites with compacted clay or consistently soggy ground.

Once established, care is simple: water during prolonged dry spells, keep mulch a few inches away from the trunk, and prune only if you need to lightly shape or remove an occasional dead or crossing branch.
