Give it full sun and well-drained soil for best flowering. It tolerates dry to medium moisture once established, but avoid soggy sites to reduce the chance of crown rot. In midsummer you can shear the plant back to refresh the foliage and encourage more blooms later in the season. Deadheading is optional, but trimming spent stems can keep the plant looking neat.

This tickseed is valued for its long bloom period and pollinator appeal, drawing butterflies and other beneficial insects. It also tends to be less attractive to deer.
