This compact selection, Coreopsis × 'Li'l Bang Goldilocks', brings bright yellow, ruffled flowers over airy foliage for months of color. You can count on a tidy mound about 8-12 inches tall with a similar spread, making it easy to tuck into the front of a border, along a walkway edge, or into a patio container.
Give it full sun and well-drained soil for best flowering. It tolerates dry to medium moisture once established, but avoid soggy sites to reduce the chance of crown rot. In midsummer you can shear the plant back to refresh the foliage and encourage more blooms later in the season. Deadheading is optional, but trimming spent stems can keep the plant looking neat.
This tickseed is valued for its long bloom period and pollinator appeal, drawing butterflies and other beneficial insects. It also tends to be less attractive to deer. Use it where you need reliable, low-maintenance summer color, especially in lean or rocky soils that drain quickly. In colder climates, cut back old stems in late fall or in late winter before new growth starts.
