Sedum × 'Little Miss Sunshine' (Stonecrop 'Little Miss Sunshine') is a compact, ground-hugging sedum that forms a tidy, creeping mound of glossy green foliage and then lights up with clusters of bright yellow, starry blooms in early summer. You can use it to edge sunny paths, fill pockets in a rock garden, or tuck into the front of a border where its low profile will not hide nearby plants.
Give it well-drained soil; gritty or sandy sites are ideal, and it also performs well in raised beds and containers where drainage is sharp. In average garden soil, avoid heavy, soggy conditions, especially in winter, by improving drainage or planting on a slight berm. Once established, it prefers on the dry side rather than frequent watering.
Plant it in full sun for the densest habit and best flowering, but it will also grow in part shade. Mature size is about 6-8 inches tall with a spread around 15-18 inches, so plan spacing accordingly and let it knit into a small patch over time.
Care is simple: remove winter-worn stems and leaves in early spring to highlight fresh new growth, and trim lightly after flowering if you want to keep the mound extra neat. This sedum is a great match for low-water plantings and small-space designs where you want dependable color without fuss.
