You get glossy green, serrated leaves carried on red stems, then clusters of bright yellow, star-shaped flowers that light up the plant in summer and draw in pollinators. Its tidy shape and drought-tough nature make it a great choice where you want strong performance with minimal fuss.

Plant it in full sun for the tightest habit and best flowering. Give it sharply drained soil and avoid rich, constantly moist beds; lean, gravelly, or sandy soils are ideal. Water to establish during the first season, then let the soil dry between waterings. Once established, it handles heat and dry conditions well.

At maturity, expect about 10-12 inches tall and roughly 16-20 inches wide. Use it at the front of borders, in rock gardens, as a low accent in mixed plantings, or as a bold filler in containers. Space plants about 16-20 inches apart so each mound can develop its rounded form.
