Set plants where they get morning sun and afternoon shade, or dappled light beneath open canopies. In hot climates, extra shade helps prevent leaf scorch. Keep the crown at soil level and avoid burying it with mulch or soil during planting and seasonal cleanup.

Give it well-drained soil enriched with organic matter, and water regularly while it establishes. After that, aim for consistent, even moisture without soggy conditions, especially in winter. Remove tired or winter-burned leaves in early spring so fresh growth can take over cleanly.
