Juniperus chinensis var. sargentii 'Viridis' is a low, spreading evergreen juniper chosen for dependable year-round color and a broad, carpet-like habit. You can use it as a ground-hugging accent, an evergreen mass, or a tough, low screen for the front of mixed beds where you want texture without constant pruning. Its mint-to-medium green foliage stays attractive through the seasons and creates a clean edge along paths, stones, and bed lines.
Give your plant full sun for the densest growth and best foliage color, but it will also perform in part shade. Plant it in well-drained soil and avoid spots that stay soggy, especially in winter. Once rooted in, it handles normal garden conditions with minimal fuss; water deeply during establishment, then irrigate only during extended dry stretches or extreme heat.
At maturity, expect it to stay compact in height (about 12-18 inches) while spreading wide (about 96-120 inches). Space plants with their mature width in mind so they can knit together naturally without crowding. A light spring cleanup to remove stray stems and winter-damaged tips is usually all you need to keep the plant tidy and healthy.
