Azalea × 'Encore® Autumn Bonfire®' (also sold as Encore Azalea 'Encore Autumn Bonfire') is a compact, reblooming evergreen shrub grown for its saturated red flowers and tidy, mounded habit. You can use it as a foundation accent, in mixed shrub borders, or in groups for repeating color across the season.
Give it well-drained, acidic soil and keep the root zone cool with mulch, leaving a little space around the stems. Water deeply after planting and during hot or dry stretches; even moisture is especially important in sunnier sites. Avoid wet, poorly drained locations, which can stress roots.
For best flowering, place it in full sun to part shade; morning sun with some afternoon shade works well in many climates. In colder areas, choose a protected spot out of drying winter winds. Feed lightly with an acid-forming fertilizer in spring if your soil is lean, and always follow label directions.
Prune only if needed, and do it right after the main spring flush of flowers so you do not remove later buds. With basic care, this Encore azalea can provide repeat color from spring into fall while staying compact at roughly 12-36 inches tall and about 24-48 inches wide.
