This deciduous winterberry drops its leaves in fall, then covers its bare stems with heavy clusters of luminous gold berries that glow from a distance and look fantastic in seasonal arrangements.

Give your plant a spot with moist to wet, acidic soil for best performance. It naturally thrives in boggy conditions and rain-garden edges, but it also adapts to average garden soil as long as it does not dry out for long stretches. Consistent moisture supports better flowering and berry set.

For the fullest display, plant in sun to part shade; it will tolerate deeper shade, but berry production is typically reduced. Mature size is about 6-8 ft. tall and 6-8 ft. wide, making it a strong screening or foundation shrub where you can enjoy the winter show.

Like other winterberries, this is a female selection and needs a compatible male winterberry nearby for pollination and fruit. Place one male within about 50 feet (often one male for 10-20 females) and match bloom time so the berries form reliably.

Once established, it offers durable landscape performance and seasonal wildlife value. Keep pruning light and well-timed, because heavy pruning can reduce flowers and the berries that follow.
