Use Thuja occidentalis 'Private Jet™' (Arborvitae 'Private Jet™') when you want a tall, narrow evergreen screen that stays neat and dense. You get rich green foliage that holds its color well through winter and a tight, columnar form that fits smaller beds or property lines.
Plan for a mature size around 15-20 feet tall (180-240 inches) and roughly 4-5 feet wide (about 48-60 inches). Place it in full sun for the fastest growth and best density, though it also performs well in part shade. Use it as a privacy hedge, vertical accent, or to frame entries and corners.
Provide average moisture in a moist, well-drained soil, especially during establishment. Water deeply after planting and keep the root zone evenly moist (not soggy) through the first growing season. A 2-3 inch mulch layer helps conserve moisture and protect roots; keep mulch a few inches back from the trunk.
Little pruning is needed to maintain its natural shape. If you want to refine the outline, prune lightly in late winter or early spring before new growth begins, and avoid cutting back into bare wood. Space plants to allow some air movement and to match the finished width for a hedge you want to fill in.
