Daylily 'Hyperion' {25 Bare Root plants}
Saucer-sized 6 1/2 inch
lemon yellow
blooms gracefully perch atop vibrant peridot foliage that bends in elegant arches.
Hyperion is a splendid daylily with a
vigorous growth habit
that quickly forms impressive, many-stemmed
clumps
after the second year.
With blossoms that first appear in late June, if you seek a swift-spreading, sweet-scented re-bloomer, this is the daylily for you. Of course you'll also love the fact that Hyperion will grow under walnut trees and along salted driveways, making her ideal for troublesome spots. Planted around the base of a tree, Hyperion resembles a band of young girls dancing in yellow frocks around a May-pole. Things to Note This variety is dormant and remains without foliage for some period of time that is variable by growing region. Interesting Facts Hyperion has been around since 1925 and remains unsurpassed in its color class. Considering the hybrids created in the 1920s, this is one of the few that is still a great performer and has not yet disappeared from commerce. Gardener Tips We love placing Hyperion with both Caesar's Brother and White Swirl Iris Siberica for the classic color combination of deep purple, yellow and white. The plants intermingle perfectly and can be left to spread and fill a large space without much fuss.

General information that applies to all plants:
Applying a balanced fertilizer in the spring as plants emerge will promote the amount and duration of blooming. It is recommended that you remove old foliage in late winter for best spring results. Be aware that daylilies will not thrive in poorly draining soil and will rot under soggy conditions. Fertilizing your plants immediately after each bloom period will promote re-blooming. In Zones 3 and 4, mulch with 5-6 inches of well-draining mulch in winter. Remember to remove mulch away from the crowns in spring. - Ground preparation, fertilization, pH - Planting instructions - Explanation and description of bare roots - How to plant bare root plants - If you cannot plant bare roots right away |
