Grow Phlox paniculata 'Luminary® Pink Lightning' (Garden Phlox 'Luminary® Pink Lightning') for tall, colorful midsummer blooms that light up mixed beds and borders. You will get upright stems topped with clustered flowers and fresh green foliage that pairs easily with many perennials.

Plant in moderately fertile, consistently moist, well-drained soil. It performs best with full sun, and in hot-summer areas it can benefit from a bit of afternoon shade. Space plants for good airflow, and water at the soil line rather than overhead to help keep foliage looking its best.

Expect a mature height of about 30-36 inches with a spread around 24-30 inches. Pinching back young stems once in late spring can encourage a fuller clump, and taller stems may appreciate support in windy spots. Remove spent flower clusters to extend the display and reduce self-seeding.

Keep the root zone cool with a light summer mulch and water during dry spells. In late fall or early spring, cut stems back to the ground and tidy debris. Divide clumps every few years if needed to refresh vigor and manage size.
