Plant it in part shade to full shade, where morning sun or dappled light helps bring out the strongest leaf color. Give it evenly moist, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter; consistent moisture keeps the leaves looking their best, especially during hot or dry spells. Mulch lightly to conserve moisture, but keep mulch off the crown.

Space plants so the clump can mature to roughly 24-30 inches wide. Expect a foliage mound around 15-18 inches tall, with flower scapes rising above.
