Bring dramatic, tricolor foliage to your shade garden with Hosta × 'Shadowland® Hudson Bay' (Hosta 'Shadowland® Hudson Bay'). This large hosta forms a substantial mound of thick, textured leaves with bright blue margins, apple-green jetting, and creamy-white centers that hold their color well through the season.
Set it where you want bold contrast along paths, under open-branched trees, or in mixed shade borders. You will get the best leaf color and leaf quality in part shade to shade; protect it from hot afternoon sun, especially in warmer climates. In early summer, near-white flowers rise on pale scapes above the foliage for a soft, airy accent.
Give your plant evenly moist, well-drained soil and a light layer of mulch to help conserve moisture and keep roots cool. Water deeply during dry spells, aiming at the soil rather than the leaves. Once established, it is a dependable performer that makes a strong focal point in hosta collections and shade plantings.
At maturity, expect a very large clump about 36-48 inches tall with a broad spread of roughly 60-72 inches. Allow room for it to fill out, and divide only when you want to propagate or refresh an overgrown clump. Remove spent flower scapes if you prefer a cleaner look, and tidy old foliage after it dies back.
