Garden Phlox 'Volcano® Lipstick' (Phlox 'Volcano® Lipstick') is a compact garden phlox chosen for sturdy stems, fragrant summer bloom, and strong performance where older tall phlox can be more prone to powdery mildew.

Give it full sun for the best flowering and plant health, though it will also grow in part shade. In hotter climates, afternoon shade can help keep growth looking fresh. Plant in moderately moist, well-drained soil enriched with compost, and keep watering consistent during dry stretches so buds and blooms do not stall.

At maturity, expect about 24-30 inches tall with a spread of roughly 20-24 inches. Use it in borders, cutting gardens, and mixed perennial beds where you want bold color and scent in mid to late summer. The dense flower clusters also bring pollinator activity to the garden when many spring perennials are finished.

For best results, provide good air circulation, water at the base rather than overhead, and remove spent flower clusters to encourage a longer display. After frost, you can cut stems back and clean up debris to help reduce disease carryover into next season.
