Garden Phlox 'Volcano® Ruby' (Phlox paniculata) is a compact garden phlox selected for abundant, fragrant flower heads and a tidy habit that fits easily into smaller spaces. You will get bold mid-to-late summer color that draws pollinators while still looking at home in traditional perennial borders and cottage-style plantings.

Plant your Garden Phlox 'Volcano® Ruby' where it receives full sun for best flowering; it will also perform in partial shade, especially where summers are hot. Choose moist, fertile, well-drained soil and water during dry spells so the root zone stays evenly moist. Mulch helps keep roots cool and reduces moisture swings, but keep mulch pulled back from the crown.

To encourage a longer show, remove spent flower clusters after the main flush. If you cut back after the initial bloom, you can often extend flowering later into the season. Give plants adequate spacing for air flow, avoid overhead watering when possible, and keep foliage dry to reduce powdery mildew pressure.

This cultivar also makes a strong cut flower for bouquets. In late fall or after frost, cut stems back near the ground and remove old foliage to keep the planting clean for the next year. Divide clumps when they become crowded to maintain vigor and steady bloom.
