BloomStruck is a reblooming bigleaf hydrangea you can count on for repeat color through the growing season. Hydrangea macrophylla 'Endless Summer® Bloomstruck®' forms rounded mophead flower clusters that open in rich pink tones and can deepen toward blue-purple in more acidic soils. Its glossy, deep green leaves and reddish stems add extra display even when the plant is not in peak bloom.
Give your hydrangea a spot with morning sun and afternoon shade, or bright filtered light all day. Consistent moisture is the key: keep the root zone evenly moist, especially during warm spells, and apply a 2-3 inch mulch layer to cool the soil. Plant in soil amended with organic matter so it drains well but does not dry out quickly. Container-grown plants benefit from more frequent watering in summer.
At maturity, expect a compact, mounded shrub about 36-48 inches tall, with a similar spread in good conditions. This cultivar can flower on old wood and new growth, helping it rebloom after weather setbacks. If you prune, do it lightly and soon after the main flush of flowers so you do not remove next season's buds. Remove winter-damaged stems in spring once new growth shows you what is alive.
In colder climates within its range, protect buds from drying winter winds by siting it out of exposure and keeping mulch in place. In hot summer regions, shade during the hottest part of the day helps foliage stay fresh. Use it as a foundation accent, in mixed shrub borders, or in a feature container where you can enjoy the changing bloom color up close.
