Oakleaf Hydrangea 'Jetstream™' (Hydrangea quercifolia 'Jetstream™') brings four-season structure to mixed borders and woodland edges with its bold, oak-like leaves and strong, upright flower panicles.
In early summer, large pyramidal blooms open creamy white and gradually take on soft pink tones, then dry to tan for extended texture. As the season cools, the foliage shifts to rich orange-red and wine tones for standout fall color, and mature stems can show handsome exfoliating bark through winter.
Give it organically rich, well-drained soil with consistent moisture, especially during the first year. A 2-3 inch mulch layer helps keep roots cool and evenly moist. It grows well in full sun to part shade; in hotter locations, afternoon shade helps protect leaves and extend bloom quality.
Because it flowers on old wood, prune only if needed right after flowering so next year's buds are not removed. Plant with enough room for airflow and its mature width, and water at the base to help reduce leaf-spot issues. Once established, it handles short dry spells better than many hydrangeas, but it looks best with regular moisture.
